What we love about this role

Respect for your clinical scope – all referrals are screened and triaged by the lead OT, so you can be confident your caseload will be a good match for your clinical scope
Join a well-established team, known for the long tenure of team members
A big focus on internal education and professional development, with particular opportunities for somebody interested in lymphoedema
Varied caseload, but minimal (or no) NDIS – you won’t be doing FCA’s or seeing referrals for ASD, mental health etc
Our client, a private occupational therapy practice based in Cairns, Queensland, is currently seeking an Occupational Therapist to join their team. As the gateway to Queensland’s tropical north, Cairns is a wonderful, laid-back city to call home. From Cairns, you can explore the Great Barrier Reef, venture inland to lush rainforest or relax and embrace the lifestyle.

The Role
This is a varied role working with clients both in clinic and in the community. The role is extremely flexible – it can be part time or full time, and the caseload can be tailored to suit the experience of the therapist. Everyone from new grads through to those with plenty of experience is welcome to apply!
If you DO NOT want a caseload of NDIS work – this could be the role for you. A typical day could involve home assessments to enhance your clients safety and independence, as well as rehab in the home. Think wheely walkers, mobility aids, threshold ramps, rails etc. You will work with clients under a range of funding streams, including aged care packages and DVA. An interest in lymphoedema management, pain management and/or hand therapy would be very welcome, although not essential. Experience in these areas is not necessary – this organisation is keen to invest in training somebody. You will have significant autonomy to manage your diary flexibly, with the support of a dedicated and efficient administration team.
